It's just a bog-standard VOIP client, just like Skype.

I don't see any mention of free phone calls. Can you point at that part of
the age that states I will be able to make "free local phonecalls" ? No
point in paying BT! The carphone warehouse already operate a package that
allows free phonecalls, but check to see if charges apply as it's not for
everyone.
What you have posted looks like Microsoft netMeeting tarted up a bit, or a
cross between Net Meeting and MSN Messenger.
I think you misunderstand what Google is offering.

Re: comming soon - Free local phone calls.
So its pure speculation then.

"Future versions are likely to allow users to teleport when the technology
allows."

And the services it is paralleling are not free.

Thank you very much for letting more people know about this new Skype rival.
I've started to explore this new venue. It should be of benefit to
everybody not having just one company providing this service.

Why can't we be grateful for someone who has taken the time and bother to
post something useful to the forum? Instead, we picked faults, trying to
discredit his effort? (but secretly signing up immediately to the Google
Talk notwithstanding!)

www.VOIPBUSTER.com offer 1 min free calls to land lines and if you pay
1euro you get unlimited free calls. Not sure how good the quality is!

Now, it seems Skype clones are breaking out everywhere.....!
That's good. We don't want a monopoly.

I've been using VoIPBuster since around March this year, people I call don't
even realise I am not using a real landline.

OK I just downloaded it. It doesn't work though. When I tried to ring a
friend I just get a message saying "call ended (the call was remotely
disconnected (1))"
