Where are all the bargains ?
As per subject.
This group now seems to be full of "where do I get this and that at the best
price". Some of whom have done no investigations of their own. Anybody else
noticed ?
I know Reestit Mutton is on paternity leave (as mentioned on his site) but
was he the only one propping this group up ?
Sorry for the rant but I miss RM and the days you could find some real
bargains in here.

I agree that all the group has turned into is people just wanting to know
the information you mention. If they posted where they had already looked
it would save time. I think a few lessons on how to use the Internet might
be better for them. Some people genuinely don't know how to use sites such
as GOOGLE. They don't even know how to look at famous high street shop
websites, which always amazes me as they always manage to find this group!
It's down to a lack of effort sometimes because they know people will do all
the work for them.
As for "RM", his bargains were good ones, but mainly phones from what i
remember. They were mainly based on cashback deals, but the way companies
go bust these days they can't be relied on. Always best to avoid someone
that promises to give money back in 12 months!

Which Reestit pointed out. The majority of his deals were through e2save
though, which is backed up by the giant Carphone Warehouse. Can't see them
going bust any time soon.

It was an observation.
But you're well known for your trolling so I'm not going to get into a flame
war here.

Even Google has Froogle now and there are many other price comparison sites
out there. It would be nice if somebody out there actually comes back once
in a while and lets us know they've found a bargain.
For those that say "I've found a widget for 20, can anybody do better ?".
How about telling us where you found the widget for that price ? It may be
the best price around.
It seems that RM used to post a lot about phones but he also gave codes for
Boots, Dell mis-pricings etc. and his examples on price savings were
excellent.

He deserves some kind of recognition. I always click on his affiliate link
when he posts a good bargain.

Maybe folk are reluctant to post a 'bargain' for fear someone else
will pop up with the item at a better price elswhere leaving them with
egg on their face.
Personally I'm more likely to know when something isn't a bargain than
when it is. For example this weekend is 10 % days at Homebase, but
IMO they are already 10% higher than anywhere else and better prices
may be found elswhere. But that's not the sort of posting wanted
here.

I've noticed it very slack lately but I like to think I'm still doing my
good deeds by posting anything that I reckon is a worthwhile bargain... OK I
notice quite a few but only post ones that are unusual (where (I) can't
(find/found) elsewhere)
Only a few days ago I posted the Braun Multiquick but not one sole has given
it a passing thought.
Generally the best bargains can only be bought S/H which I'm a big fan of
and where I get my biggest smiles :-)
