Returning goods to Ebuyer
I'm having to return a CF card to ebuyer.
They want me to use traceable / insured postage. Which is fine by me.
However they also want the receipt to be sent with the goods!!

How can I do this if the goods are sealed and handed over the counter?

I thought the whole idea of getting a receipt was in case the goods went
missing. The receipt could then be produced for a claim.

Any ideas? To keep it on topic, I bought it at the beginning of the year
after a recommendation as a bargain /discount ;o)

Sounds a bit silly. Are you sure you have not got the wrong end of the
stick? They usually just state that you have to insure it or any loss will
not be paid out.

Why would you put the postal receipt in with the package - if the parcel
arrives the receipt is useless, if it is lost so is the receipt and any
chance of claiming.

Do what I do and leave the parcel unsealed until everything is paid for
and then tape it up. My local post office have no problems in me doing
that so I can post the receipt as well.

Exactly my point. If the parcel goes missing then I have no proof of posting
it. It's crazy.

Here is part of the email they sent me:
"We recommend you use a traceable and insured delivery agent to return the
items to us. ie: Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery via Royal Mail.
Postage up to a maximum of pound;5.00 will be refunded for any
Damaged/Faulty or mis-shipped items. Please ensure the postage receipt is
sent with your return."

That sounds to me like they want a receipt for *payment* of postage,
rather than the actual bit of paper you get that you're supposed to
keep as proof of posting. IOW, ask the post office for a receipt for
the money you've handed over for postage, and put that into the box
before you seal it.

I normally send everything back to Ebuyer via 1st class post. Ignore Ebuyers
requests. Their turnaround is very good.

That can't be it.

1. They will not let you alter a package once it has been weighed - just in
case the extra few grams pushes it into another price range.

2. The cost of postage is clearly displayed on every package sent from the
PO. Either in the form of a printed label or bog standard stamps.

If I did not know that ebuyer send email invoices, I would think they were
asking for the receipt they posted to you.

Mine would. You got lucky with your PO. Mine will not even put the label
on until it gets their side of the bullet proof glass.

That said, what is the point of said receipt anyhow - seeing as the
printedlabel/stamps declare proof of postage paid.

Re-reading the OP. I suspect customer support has hired someone whose first
language is not English. Sounds like they are just telling you to get a
receipt/proof of insured postage in case it goes missing - standard
procedure for most returns.

Hmmm weird I returned something to them a few weeks ago didnt have that
extra bit about including a recipt of postage in the email instructions.
Just send it to them special delivery (which for some reason was actually
cheaper than recorded delivery!).

Oh and I get the impression Ebuyer refund anything, I sent them an open and
used retail boxed amd xp and they refunded it without even asking a
question, lol!.!

The couple of times I have returned an item to eBuyer their email mentioned
about sending in the receipt of postage, I never bothered either time and
received reimbursement of postage.

Re: Returning goods to Ebuyer
No need for a postage receipt as the cost will clearly be shown on the
outside of the parcel together with your RMA number.

I expect they note both down as they open it up.

But knowing Ebuyers reputation if a receipt wasn't included in the packaging
then they may well refuse to pay as they expressly asked for one!

As it is, I got it weighed with the parcel unsealed and asked if I could get
the receipt to put in the package.

Here's hoping it doesn't go missing in the post. Even although I sent it
Special Delivery I still think the PO ask for the receipt as well as the SD
slip if making a claim.

Cheers to everyone for the suggestions.

Just thought I'd update to this post as thoughts are continuously asked
about Ebuyer on this NG. I've also left the original text in after the
"Further to Bloody Curries" thread ;o)

Sent my memory card back on the 25th August.
6 days later product has been tested and the full amount has been raised for
credit back into my account.

This is the first RMA I have had to do with them. I've bought components
from them for about 5 different system builds and not had a bit of bother.
