Advertised price in mag
Hi all
In this months Computeractive mag. the Fujifinepix F10 Zoom was being
advertised by DABs.com as 119 Yet on there website it was 219 I tried to
get it at the advertised price but was told "as it was an error I would have
to pay the Online price. I have done a bit of research on this and
apparently you are only "invited to buy" they dont actualy have to sell it
to you.
regards
Brian

Yes , thats entirely correct.
The printed price is an "invitation to treat"
You offer them that sum of money , they decide if they want to accept

However, they might break some other regulations. I know for a fact that
Trading Standards will take action against incorrect pricing that is not
corrected when pointed out to the trader.

If it's a print advert I'm sure it has E&OE at the bottom anyway.

If it re-appears in next months ad then maybe , but they can't go back in
time and correct what's already happened

Not if they can prove it was a genuine error or they had a disclaimer on the
bottom saying "actual price may vary".

A genuine error is expected to be corrected when pointed out to the trader.
I uncorrected, then the error will not be considered as 'genuine' by Trading
Standards. E.g. if there is a problem in a supermarket, Trading Standards
may return to see if the price has been corrected.
