Steam trivia question
What was the last class of mainline steam locomotive in the UK with a
4 wheeled tender to be in revenue earning service?

No prizes or anything, I'm just curious..........

The Scottish Region had soms Class Y9 0-4-0s coupled to 4-wheel wooden
tenders until the early 1960s.

However, you might not consider these 'proper' tenders, as they are
pretty obviously converted wagons, and carry only coal.

One is illustrated at:

How about Peppercorn A2 Pacific No. 60532 "Blue Peter"?
Withdrawn from service at Aberdeen Ferryhill on 31st December 1966

8 wheeled tender on an A2, I believe, not 4 wheeled.

Almost certainly the Sharp, Stewart standard goods engine, as
supplied to a whole host of railways in the 1860s and
1870s (I think the Furness got the last to be built, some
time in the 1880s). Two of these lasted until after WW2
in GWR service as they were the only engines light enough
for some branches. One of 'em had picked up a 6-wheel tender
at one point, but I'm pretty sure the other one had a 4-wheel
tender until the end.
