Football / Steam Hooligans?
Football / Steam Hooligans? It looks like football gets the priority........
I have reports of a trespass at Abbotswood.
1V63/1V65 report hundreds of trains spotter most in field trespass told to
leave railway by Virgin Drivers. BTP (it seems) are a little busy dealing
with football at Bristol.
And we are worrying about being able to photograph on stations?

I have decipher this post several times and I still don't understand what it
is about, the closest I can get is:
1V63/1V65 report hundreds of trains spotters, mostly trespassing in field's,
have been told to leave railway by Virgin Drivers.

Well, I'm still puzzled. If the "train spotters" were trespassing in
fields, why were Virgin drivers concerning themselves? Or, why, if hundreds
of them (really? Abbotswood must be a very good location!) were actually on
railway property, did BTP refuse to attend? The image of Virgin driver
stopping, and confronting a crowd of "hundreds" of trespassers, doesn't
ring true, somehow.
Where did you get this story from, Ken?

Re: Football / Steam Hooligans?
Abbottswood is/was a good location for photographs. There are 3 fields in
which to stand although the one is raised above the railway not affording a
good view. The other 2 fields i have used in the past have have had no
problems walking along the paths that have been made along the edges of the
field. For those wanting the exact location Abbottswood is the junction
where the Bristol/Birmingham lines joins/seperates the Worcester/Bristol
line. If you travel south the one field is on the right immediately after
the junction and before the bridge. The second is on the left after the
brige. The field after the bridge affords a view of the main line all the
way down past Wadborough level crossing. With only Yings, Vermin and plastic
now travelling along the line it is not worth the effort to go out there
anymore. Nevermind BTP refusing to attend if you are not a local it ain't an
easy place to find and parking for about 2 cars.

I seem to recall that several public footpaths cross the line south of
Abbotswood
