Under car NEON kits
If you're a boy racer and want to look really silly then MAPLIN are offering
a blue neon kit for 24-99. Absolute bargain compared to some car shops and
magazines wanting hundreds.
It was 50 a few months back. The kit consists of two small tubes and two
longer ones. The idea is to put two under the sides of the car and one
under the front and back. Then people can point and laugh - they are aimed
at the type of Vauxhall corsa/nova driver that usually has a dustbin for an
exhaust, wheels off a tractor and plastic glued down the windscreen, or a
meccano spoiler bolted on the boot and the front foglights wired so they're
permanently on in daylight.
Go to www.maplin.co.uk and search for "neon".
I am sure someone will appreciate such a kit as a gift for example.

Ah, that depends on the type of car. I once came across, many years ago, in
the evening in Mayfair, a black or very dark blue luxury Italian sportster
(couldn't recognize the make!) with dull blue light just like the effect
from the gadget you depicted. Low, squat and sleek. Very svelte and urbane
indeed.

Yes, a giant spoiler at least half the size of the car, and a neon light
underneath are very svelte and urbane.
I have often thought that as some Chav has driven by.

I've always liked big spoilers on chavvy cars, they always make me laugh.
There used to be a kid around here who drove an apparently otherwise totally
bog standard 1.6 Ford Orion with a spoiler at least as big as the boot area,
it must have made opening the boot impossible and probably cost more than
the car was worth.
Body kits and loud exhausts just piss me off though and the worst -
illuminated washer nozzles, grrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Lol, there's what could have been a nice black BMW around here, un-modded,
apart from, yes, a silver meccano spoiler. Why oh why? ;-)

Think they must be able to bolt them on any car. They are on all sort of
wrecks around here. And also some cars spoilt completely by adding a silly
silver, as you say, meccano, spoiler. Ha ha !!

Until you have personally witnessed one, it is unhelpful to pass comment.
It's a matter of personal taste, of course. The one I have seen could be
the car's original manufacturer's equipment, not an after-market add-on. I
didn't get a chance to see it though; it was out of sight somewhere
underneath the car. You might be able to imagine this scene: as the dark
low-profiled monstrosity moved quietly in the dimly lit deserted street, the
blue glow, cloaked by the skirt, bathed the tarmac directly beneath the car.
This menacing and mysterious looking machine and its mystifying blue light
reminded me of flying saucers in sci-fi films seen way back in the half
forgotten past. It could well be a four-figure sum extra the owner had
opted for this very personal carriage.
No, it's not your Mickey Mouse Meccano set or tail fin. We are talking
about chalk and cheese here.

Or more to the point a saddo with no taste. The only real difference between
chav "style" and playboy "style" is the price, you only have to look at a 5
million pound yacht to see that.

No, answers from flat-earthers are not required.
I presented a different point of view from the OP's, and an explanation in
support of this view was offered. The response was a bunch of baying
Rottweilers, with personal attack and no evidence.
Could it be that the Rottweiler just randomly picked any pretext for the
personal attack? I don't think so. It is highly probable that he was
pained at the time by precisely the resentment of a "saddo with no mates".
It was not random. He is very unhappy and ill, and he is quite aware of it.
Please, go to see a doctor, preferably a clinical psychologist, before
something more damaging intervenes. You will be helped to change your
attitude: the verbal assault betrays your true nature, an aggressive brute
under restrain. The newsgroup is only a convenient vehicle for your
violence. Leave the computer. This would help meantime. Until you seek
help the dark clouds over you will not even begin to shift.

Hey! Speaking as a saddo with no mates, who is currently

For a start, you should study the History of Art (well, at least the outline
of it), and try to understand the branch of philosophy called Aesthetics.
Then you go through as many arty subjects and objects as you can muster.
You will then come to the revelation, and go away with an acceptance, that
taste and style changed through the ages. What was once thought of high art
form is now of little merit befitting the decoration on biscuit tins only,
for example. A repeated montage of Marilyn Monroe, or of tins of Campbell's
soup, now hangs at some national gallery. Each has its own charm. Don't
accept other's opinion on matter of art, form your own. There is no right
or wrong of a particular view; it is all relative. Is it not odd that the
mod in computers has not attracted such vehement, venomous verbal abuse as
this mod in modern cars? What I object to is that name calling was resorted
to when I liked red colour and they like blue.
PS - There was no spoiler in that car I was fortunate to have witnessed.

Sure they never pass any laws at all. Glad I invested in 200 fox hounds and
a hunting horn. Bargain.
