Turf?
Probably more of a regional question.... but I am looking to buy some turf
(grass that comes in rools so i can put in a new lawn!)

Anyone know if Homebase and B and Q actually sell the stuff? And which is
cheaper?

Failing that does anyone know of any large garden centres around Hampshire?

My local B&Q were selling it all summer, but it was dreadful quality.

It will be. Proper retailers cut it to order. B&Q have deliveries once a
week and leave the roots to dry out in the sun.

Try school playing fields ;-)

Used Butser Turf - a good few years ago - good quality and reasonably
priced. Still have a good reputation in South Hants, I believe.

Sheds/garden centres aren't the place to go for turf - find a
specialist local supplier.

If you go for cheap turf it will probably be 'meadow' (broad-bladed) turf
which may be OK if you are moving soon, or staying but don't mind it looking
like a meadow (including the weeds) year after year no matter how you mow or
otherwise treat it, or have half a dozen children who will be churning it up
on mountain bikes. You might not want it looking like a bowling green or the
lawn at Buckingham Palace, or be able to afford the very best quality turf,
but if you want a nice-to-look-at good quality lawn you are not going to get
it by buying cheap turf. You will get what you pay for, as always!
