Robin Hood Line today
I live right at the side of it (& the NET) & am used to the traffic on
it. If ever I hear something out of the ordinary I shoot to the window
& usually catch the back end of it sailing past. Today I just saw the
back end of what wasn't a sprinter travelling from Hucknall to
Bulwell or a tram for that matter.
It was an excursion of some sort & I'm interested to know what it was,
all I can say is that the carriage was brown with some bemused punters
inside looking at the sights of our estate.

Any ideas or links?

TIA

Yesterday around 2:20pm at Beeston station a single brown Mk1
carriage with "Railtrack" written on the side of it stoped at the
station briefly before heading off towards Derby. It was hauled by
a non-ETS class 47, Fragonset IIRC, and was carrying a group of
presumably Network Rail staff in orange hi-vis jackets.

47145 with inspection saloon 999506 in tow which had started out from
Sheffield that morning visiting Thoresby Colliery Junction beforehand.

At Beeston it was en route Derby via Leicester and the Coalville line.

That would be the one - I don't know if this was what the OP saw
on the Robin Hood line, but just thought it sounded something
similar on the same day. I couldn't quite work out why the train
stopped at Beeston, though there was a whistle blown for the train
to start again (which there is not usually at Beeston, since it is
unstaffed besides the ticket office.) I couldn't see anyone get on
or off, and i couldn't see a signal for it to be stopped at.
(Though TBH, at the time I was more wondering about when the 12:20
service to Nottingham was actually going to arrive...)

Sounds like that must have been it. I thought it was longer as I heard
it passing for a while before I looked out, although it was going
pretty slow as it passed.
In almost 2 years living here it's only the 3rd or 4th time I've seen
something other than a RH line sprinter.

Cheers
