Video Capture Devices
Hi
I am looking for a fairly cheap video capture device to transfer some
old videos to dvd. Can be internal or external. Any recommendations on
what to buy and what to avoid?
A few years a go I bought a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe unit and it was crap,
didn't work and the software kept crashing. I had to rebuild my PC to
get rid of it. So this time I want to buy something that works !
thanks
Andrew

Go out and buy a cheap dvd recorder for less than 100 that sits under the
tv connect video into this...
You will use it more than a pc card...

They are already on tape, how would I get the output of a VCR onto the
PC?
Thanks

Why? I am looking for good bargain, I just want a personall
recommendation of a product as well rather than believing the marketing
blurbs which I did last time.
thanks

Our Canon MVX330i can take an analogue video signal input (ie. from a VCR),
convert it on the fly to digital format and output it to PC via the firewire
port. I'm not sure which other models in the Canon range are able to do
this.

Well I bought a Hauppauge USB Live cable a few years ago and it has
worked pretty well for me. However it doesn't record sound so you'll
need to buy one of their WinTV products in order to do so and I'm not
sure you can actually record the input into a DVD format. Hmmm, that
wasn't much of a recommendation, was it? ;)
