buy from aria (they pricematch) & pay for a pixel check

if you buy from a place that does pixel checks ALWAYS pay for the check
because if you don't you may get one that has failed the pixel check ;-)

effectively, if you pay for the check you are getting a class one display.

I paid 19.99 + VAT for a so-called dead pixel check from Aria and guess 
what...........when it arrived it had a dead pixel, so I had the hassle 
of sending it back and waiting for it's replacement. If you scan 
u.c.vendors you will find others who also received duff monitors after 
paying for an Aria dead pixel check.

Presumably, if you choose to buy a TFT from Aria and don't pay for the
"dead pixel check", then you stand a much greater chance of getting a TFT
with dead pixels than buying from another supplier?

mine was fine. so was yours, eventually. FWIW I ran pixel workout
for a few minutes every now and again during the 48hr dead pixel
warranty period. and I left the display on for the whole 48 hrs running
a screensaver. at hour 47.5 I rechecked the display. 0 dead pixels
0 blinking 0 problem.

I'm not too convinced this actually happens, in practice.

I paid a bit extra from a smaller supplier who said they soak tested
their projectors for 8 hours to make sure there were no dead pixels.
When the projector arrived, it was shipped directly by courier from
Sanyo's warehouse to me, clearly not having gone via the supplier.
However, there weren't any dead pixels, so I'm not too bothered.

Presumably, if the TFT or porjector has been opened up and tested and
then sold with a dead pixel, you have grounds for not accepting as it is
sold as-new and had clearly been opened and used (maybe not by a
customer, but if it's been opened tehy can't claim it's as new), so I
wouldn't be hugely worried anyway.

I did the belt and braces trick of emailing a CS manager and asking if
the test had been carried out, what it entailed and had the display passed
the test and could they confirm that the display had zero pixels. once they
had confirmed in writing everything I wanted to know, I was happy.
