Luton freight
Last week on 2 days and again Monday this week a 66/5 brought in and/or
shunted aggregate open box bogies for unloading.
Two sidings have been holding the Freightliner liveried boxes since,
already been grafittied.
Frist real freight in Crescent Road yard sidings for several years -
last regular traffic was similar aggregates (over 10 yrs ago I think)
that had Mendiprail 59s on.
The four or so sidings there had until a few months back mostly been
covered over by assorted plant equipment from one concern using the
site and stored portakabins and portaloos by another concern but was
all cleared out. The last site offcies were destroyed in a mysterious
fire 6-8 weeks backs (I was one of severl locasl who 999'd that one).
What was left of the sidings had been used for holding track machines
but not seen that in a while now, these tend to be in the north end
dock under cover on the down side of the station.
