Brum-Preston 350
What's happened to the 1651 Brum-Preston ? Have been out twice in the past
month and it has not turned up .. but there have been voyagers around that
time. It's still in the timetable - has it reverted to Virgin ?

It is supposed to run, but remember - it is operated by Central Trains.
Central Trains - The people who quite happily will leave a three hour
gap in services between Stoke and Crewe when they turn everything back
at Stoke due to running to their normal late standard.
Central Trains - Who cancelled many trains last Sunday due to staff
shortages.
Central Trains - Who have already cancelled a few today

Yes. Yesterday I travelled Arnsberg - Hagen - Aachen - Brussels - Waterloo -
KX - Grantham without problem. To find 2045 CT service to Nottingham
cancelled. That is 1916 ex Skeggie on a sunny August - glad I wasn't at
Skeggie station nor on following train!

Looking at the New Street page at 16:59 it has disappeared. However
looking at it on the Crewe page it is showing as leaving Birmingham at
"No report" which is exactly what happened last night. Don't rush for
the station folks, just ring Central Trains and tell them how utterly
useless they are. Oh! and why you are about it ask them why all the next
few services each way between Birmingham and Liverpool are cancelled.

Indeed, it is showing "No Report" from all stops but, Not Cancelled as the
Brum - Liverpool is (18:01 ex Stafford).
I'll stay here then as I had thought of visiting Wigan with the camera....
Maybe when they have all come back from Holiday we may get a service back..
or not...

PS. The Mild at 1:90 per Pint was wonderful in the "Buffet" at Stalybridge
lunchtime.

Central Trains - The people who are running two 350s on Brum - Coventry
locals today. No shortage here and as if we weren't priviliged enough
one of the Northampton peak services, that make some extra local stops,
is today an eight car 350.
So hats off to Central, now remind me, what exactly was Centro's
contribution towards the cost of these units?

And, more to the point, why are Inter-Regional units being used on
local stopping services?
The lot should go to SS in return for the nastier 321s. CT don't
deserve them.

I'm actually loosing count of them now, everything seems to be Desiro.
I have only noticed one class 321 unit today.
Shouldn't complain really, it's just that you never know what's coming
next with Central and it's not always so good. Probably dogboxes for us
tomorrow and Turbostars on the Stourbridge Donkey.

They have better acceleration than any of the older units - useful for
Euston - Tring peak stoppers, so they keep out of the way of Northamptons
banished to the Slow Lines by Pendos, and for Coventry - BNS stoppers, again
to keep out of the way of Pendos.
