Micra keyless entry
Just viewed a 2003 Micra with keyless entry and the little rubber button
bits have been ripped off, exposing the microswitch underneath. Does anyone
know if these rubber bits can be replaced, or is it part of the handle
assembly?
Also, how much (roughly) would another keyless fob be, as the chap can only
find one he says....
Thanks,
Carl.

The rubber bits are not available separately. New Fob time.
The fob itself is around 60UKP and the programming another 25UKP so call it
100quid with the VAT.
Haggle accordingly, or find another car- there are lots about.

Tim,
Thanks for the prices! It's not actually as much as I thought it would
be.
The rubber bits I meant are actually the ones on the door handle,
covering the little microswitch that you press to enter the car
keylessly.
Thanks,
Carl.

Re: Micra keyless entry
Rubber buttons missing may indicate that the battery has gone flat at some
point. It's usual to remove the buttons to expose the normal lock mechanism
that can be manually opened by the 'flip out' key section of the remote fob.
As for prices, ring Dixon Nissan - no point in even guessing prices.
If you decide to go further with this car (or any other Micra with keyless
entry), try taking it for a run of a few miles or so with the doors locked
from the inside. It's not uncommon for the boot to unlock itself while
driving (it'll bring up a warning light on the dash for 'door open').
It's - unfortunately - not unusual to have to have the tailgate switch
replaced, so make sure you've got some warranty, or a good price on the car.
One of the consequences of Renault taking part ownership of Nissan I'm
afraid......
