Anybody any idea of the price you could expect to pick up a Canon G6 in 
Dubai?  Best price around the UK seems to be around 349 new but you can 
easily pay 430 in some places.  I'm wondering if there is likely to be much 
saving over the best UK price?

PS. Unless anyone knows any better in the UK?

Even if you were to get it 100 cheaper in Dubai, you would end up
with a 249 souvenir if it ceases to function.

i doubt it will be any cheaper out there
i was there in june and the prices i saw for most electronics were no
cheaper than could be sourced in the uk with a good look on the internet?

It'll be covered by Canon's International Warranty.
I had a long conversation with Canon regards their warranty before I bought 
my 20D through 7dayshop.

I was out there last year and noticed the same. Similar prices or more 
expensive than Amazon.co.uk.

I think it is mostly cheap for designer stuff but not a lot else.

I used to live in the UAE, their prices are cheaper by at least VAT and many 
shops have much smaller make-ups than the UK.

BUT you have to know Dubai and where the cheaper, out of the way shops are.

Like visitors to London who try shopping in Oxford street and wonder at the 
prices visitors to Dubai go to Dubai City Centre and do not find the cheaper 
prices.

I used to use some of the alleys in the old city that had a number of stores 
with good prices, look for Indian's running the shop. Or, if you are in Al 
Ain go to Burami (in Oman but no border check) for good prices.

You can make savings but if things go wrong you have little come-back, even 
if you live in the UAE it can be difficult!
