Hey Guys I don't understand
How do my posts in uk.local.cumbria end up in uk.local.east-anglia?

Also, I am being mistaken for a troll. I don't know what is going on.
Edith can u help clear this up? you know me and you are the only one I
really remember in here.

Tesla, before you send your post, check that you remove other newsgroups
from the reply/address at the top left, where it says Newsgroups:

When you press your reply button you'll see how many other unwanted
newsgroups are on your reply. Remove them before you send by clicking, draw
your mouse over them and delete.

Gees that was difficult. I'm sweating cobs here.

Edith.

Don't worry about it, Tesla. These trolls are always trying to gain a
foothold. We ignore them. Many of us remember who you are - we know you're
OK, so don't fret.

Tell us your news!

Hi Ally, I am now a professional truck driver. I have been all over the
country. The mountains in Oregeon reminescent of the ones i seen in
pictures of Cumbria (where my heart always is). I can't believe a wackadoo
like me is driving a huge truck hahah I'm crazy. I get lost
sometimes....sometimes really bad, wher eI would have to BACK UP half a mile
(UPHILL) because of a dead end! Runnin through low hanging branches the
size of a tree (and consequently knocking them down...no one hurt, luckily!)

It's been a life changing experience!!! But it hasn't settled in yet, the
fact that i'm all over the place.......because i'm pretty much inside the
truck most of the time, looking out at the world from the comfort of my
truck (it has a bunk bed!). One of these days i will park my truck
somewhere and maybe climb a mountain!

Fantastic country to drive a truck in. So much to see; so many thousands of
miles of roads. Are you allowed to pick up hitch-hikers? They've got quite
strict in this country since my young days of thumbing around the country.
The lorry drivers used to enjoy the company when they picked us up - a
couple of naive young lassies. They were always gentlemen - never tried to
take advantage - just chatted away over the roar of the engine. They'd
sometimes buy us a cup of tea and a bacon roll when we stopped at a
transport caff. I used to think it would be a wonderful life driving around
the country, but nowadays I'm not so sure. I get quite knackered driving
long distances. How do you keep yourself awake/alert on long journeys?

Because some pillock troll is mucking about with the "follow-up" settings
in his posts. He obviously thinks this is a highly intellectual from of
mischief.

I hope his Mum smacks him hard and sends him to bed without any supper.

Re: Hey Guys I don't understand
My goodness ally! I wouldn't mind picking up a nice cheery lass like
yourself haha! I'm not allowed to pick up hitchhikers (drivers used to be
able to), thats just beggin for a lawsuit! If i want to bring family
members I have to pay a monthly fee for insurance. I do anywhere from 2500
to 3000 miles a week. 3400 on a good week :) All that driving makes the
world seem so small!

The industry is heavily regulated and we are allowed to only drive a max of
11 hours a day (with breaks or whatever in between if you want). Sometimes
I drive 11 hours str8, sometimes I take a nap or go eat or have some fun
when I am off duty with nothing to do. The best part is I get to sleep any
time I want, so as long as I deliver and pick up loads on time. If I start
to get sleepy I will sleep! I listen to music and sermons and other stuff
on the radio to help pass the time. Being alone by yourself is a real
treat, no one breathing down on your back! But you do tend to get lazy and
messy....a lazy and messy 23 yr old haha.

I forgot to mention the LADIES. beautiful girls everywhere I go. can only
look tho :-( cowboy gotta hit the saddle once again.

Yeah, things have changed. When we were teenagers (which is a year or two
before *you* were one, I suspect...) people didn't go around suing each
other; most truck drivers were rough & ready but kindly souls; and young
girls were far too naive to think of making false accusations towards
anyone. My pal and I spent our summers hitching around Britain. We'd go off
with 5 pounds each in our pockets and see how long it would last: a week, if
we were lucky. We stayed in youth hostels (most of the time!), bought
left-over food from street markets and never paid a penny for transport. We
never knew where we'd end up the next night, but we never left the UK. We
spent most of the time exploring Scotland and Wales, iirc.

We never told our parents, though! They thought we were travelling by bus
and train. I remember my pal finally telling my dad the truth when we were
in our late 20s, and even then I was so embarrassed that he'd found out: he
was shocked, I think.

It's nice to see someone who's enjoying their job so much! How come you've
got time to go online? Do you bring a laptop along with you, or are you
having a few days at home?
