Edinburgh - cheap accommodation this weekend?
With the Military Tattoo and various festivals (both of which I'm not
visiting, we're just going to see spend my birthday in the city) being
on it seems as though it'd be easier for me to go to and caputre Osama
Bin Laden in the Afghanistan/Pakistan border this weekend rather than
get a good deal in Edinburgh.
I've spent pretty much all day online and on the phone.
But if anyone knows of any, please do let me know. We're looking for as
cheap as possible, with about 75 for a room being the upper limit (per
night - maybe 90 at a push if its worth it).
Outside Edinburgh would be OK, but only as much as 15 miles or so -
unless its a nice scenic place with a decent pub and then maybe it'd be
OK to be a bit further out!
We're also after three rooms (but I can obv. check availibility at the
links provided if anyone has any), and my baby nephew will be coming
along so no rough pubs or well dodgy areas if possible!
TIA. If you can find me a cheap place to stay in Edinburgh centre this
weekend you're a miracle worker I'm sure of it

Holiday Inn Express at Perth may be an option if you are willing to travel
into the city, about 30 minutes by car

More like 60 minutes as long as the bridge is OK. You may want to consider
Glasgow, 45 minutes by train 8.20 off peak return.

If you want basic accommodation B&B 22.50 per night, big breakfast try The
Staiside Inn 0131 663 8811
It is about 9 miles outside the centre of Edinburgh with good bus service.
Bus stop right outside pub.
If this number is the public phone, ask whoever answers for the bar phone
number.
You could also try the Laird & Dog at Lasswade Midlothian. Don't have the
number for this one.

Take Bigeye's advice, lasswade, dalkeith & penicuik would be ideal as they
are within 6-10 miles of the centre and all on transport routes.
