BA: Small packs of Tunes in Superdrug for -13p (minus 13p)
Hi,
Superdrug in Milton Keynes (and maybe others) have small boxes
of Tunes reduced from 49p to 10p with 33p off when you buy 2 packs
Result - minus 13p per 2 packs, won't make you rich but all helps.
p.s Unless they have some out the back, no point checking MK as
I bought the lot and reduced my bill from 31 to 26 and now I
can overdose on Menthol Cherry sweets. Glad they are sugar free.

Somehow I don't think Mizz Adams has the right mindset for a discounts and
bargains group .... this is exactly the kind of thread us hardened bargain
hunters should be high-fiving over, celebrating the stupidity and triumph
over a corporate behemoth and their short sighted sales promotion. :D

To be fair, it is a discount and a bargain so DON'T knock it.

Why stupidity? Why short-sighted?
A few thousand quid written off on selling Tunes in this campaign and the
story gets around like wildfire - this group being an example. Plus, of
course, advertising at the store, in local press etc. Dozens more
customers. Many thinking "oh, I can get some more toothpaste while I'm
here" and spending on more than they would have done if they hadn't gone
into the store.
It's just an extreme example of a loss leader, a common and very successful
marketing technique. Superdrug will know from till information how much
more (on average) a customer spends when buying a loss leader from one who
doesn't, and will have costed this promotion very carefully.
The more dramatic the saving, the more people will go after it and be
tempted to buy other items in the shop.

yeah really? more like they are coming to the end of their date and were
told to reduce them to 10p to clear, completely forgetting there is a
current promotion on them.

Erm, no 'she' doesn't - it's a bloke.
A big, fat, sweaty, minging bloke who wears a suspender belt whilst he
sits in front of his computer and makes these posts.

Re: BA: Small packs of Tunes in Superdrug for -13p (minus 13p)
Local Tesco does this all the time - i.e packs of satsumas which they want
to get rid of up come -1p or sometimes a bit more like -20p - only because
they want shot and it makes them look good. (course this does only work when
there is a promo - i.e the packs are 1.50 each and its 2 for 2.(save 1) so
if they reduce all packs to 40p, when you buy 2 it will cost 80p and minus
the 1 saving is - 20p
Easier than throwing it all away.

That's not the reason at all.
It's a limitation in the EPOS software - each individual product code
(PLU) is set up as a 'linked item' if it's a multisave. However, the
part of the system that controls linked items can't distinguish between
a full price or reduced price sale.
There's no simple or cheap solution to resolve this issue, so it will be
something they live with until the next major back office / server
upgrade.

Yep agree with that. Don't feed the troll. Fat enough already, his
picture and personal details available through google if you look around...

Re: BA: Small packs of Tunes in Superdrug for -13p (minus 13p)
Some retailers (like Waitrose) have got wise and put in discounted
goods
in manually as generic items. (ie they don't swipe the bar code) eg
Food or groceries.
That way any linked savings aren't picked up.
Of course it mucks up their sales and ordering information.
But I guess the quantity of reduced goods is so small per store as to
not worry too much.
Boot meals deal with a linked saving when you buy two drinks with it is
my favourite.
Made even more popular by their Advantage card also giving you extra
points at times.
