Asta auto AF13 problem Leeds UK
I have a 94 Astra. Its been ok. Yesterday I checked the fluid level
in the correct manner with the engine running. It was ok. When I set
off it tried to pull away in a high gear. I can only get 1st and 2nd
by selecting 1 and 2 on the selector. I could not find any fluid spills
or disconnected wires although the sports mode light on the dash was
not working. I have found a 10 amp fuse that was blown in the fuse
box. After I replaced it it pulled away ok and the sports mode light
was lit and then it quickly blew again. I have 84k miles. Any help
appreciated.

If Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened
rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic
music.

I had an Astra auto like yours and a damn good car it was
Try checking that the dipstick is back in situ properly and that is
locked down correctly, I seem to remember an over-centre latch.Start
engine and cycle the lever through all positions a few times. One more
change of the fuse I guess but if not an auto gearbox speecialist not a
vauxhall dealer!
Best of luck

Does this not tell you something??!
I am not familair with the Astra F auto, but will bet my left testical that
your 10A fuse is transmission ECU related, and with the circuit dead the box
is in purely mechanical limp mode.
Find and repair the short to ground in the 10A fuse protected circuit.

Re: Asta auto AF13 problem Leeds UK
Well as I said any help appreciated. I know I got the dipstick back
ok. I will try and find a short in the circuit. I'm going to pick it
up today from the MOT and will report back any success. At least I can
drive it so far if it doesn't get any worse.

Re: Asta auto AF13 problem Leeds UK
I found the fault myself. It was the winter mode switch in the gear
selector that had come loose and shorting out on the metal arm of the
selector. Glad I didn't get the ECU
