Where to go to buy a good luggage set
I am looking for a luggage case; doesn't really have to be a complete set.
I know that luggage sets are available for free at some places like
LaRedoute although I hear that that set is meant for girls.
Anywhere where there are bargains?
Thanx.

I've always thought of luggage as being pretty much unisex, with the
possible exception of makeup bags and vanity cases! ;-)
Don't buy cheap luggage, but get stuff that will last. Bear in mind the way
sensitively-trained, delicately-handed baggage handlers at airports treat it
and you'll see why cheap stuff will fall to pieces after one journey.
Branded stuff is usually best - Antler, Samsonite etc. - and they're widely
available from John Lewis and other stores. I've always found
http://www.luggageshop.co.uk/ to be good if you want to buy online. And I'm
sure there'll be someone along in a minute to advise you of cheaper brands
that are as good.

Doing the same myself having had the suitcase crack when I went away last
weekend. SO having watched them massacre one of their cases on some travel
show and now seen it for myself too, don't buy Constellation (Which is the
cheaper end of the market to be fair)

The idea that you have to spend a fortune on luggage is complete twaddle.
I have a mate who spent 700ukp on the top of the range american stuff.
Frankly unless youre jetting off every week theres absolutley no need to
spend a fortune.
I did some consultancy work for a company who several years ago bought their
stuff dead cheap (a couple of dollars only for a suitcase-made in China
and Vietnam) They flogged it as a well known brand for massive massive
profit in a well known departmental stores as well as some of its own
outlets. We are talking serious profit here! Ive seen the same brand for
sale in Spain, this year However the quality now is way below what it used
to be. This is no doubt a result of others taking their market share and
them lowering their specs.
Fortunately many other retailers have cottoned onto these massive profits
and are importing reasonable quality stuff, at reasonable prices.
Two years ago past I picked up some good qulity and reasonable priced stuff
from Matallan.
'There are many places importing this Chinese/Vietnamese stuff and its not
to difficult to find some well made stuff.
If you can wait a copule of weeks there will be many places clearing their
lines, as the summer hols rush finishes.
Sorry I cant be more specific but you dont need to spend a fotune here just
examine the bargains carefully, it isnt too difficult to find well made
bargain stuff. Just steer well clear of the overpriced branded stuff.
