Injector cleaning?
Hi,
My R reg Vauxhall Corsa B Sport (1.6 16v) has been playing up as of late.
When I put my foot down after changing gear, the engine will chug and the
whole car will shudder as if it has no petrol in it, until I gain some
speed.
The problem is very temperamental and sometimes I can drive it for 20 mins
without anything out of the ordinary happening. But then sometimes it can do
it incessantly.
I've tried changing the spark plugs, replacing the fuel filter, replacing
the EGR valve, and petrol treatment.
I'm thinking that I'll have to replace the injectors, but a friend mentioned
that you can get them professionally cleaned. Is this right? How much should
I expect to pay?
Also if the injectors HAVE gone tits up, how much should they be to replace?
I've been quoted 80-90 per injector, not including labour, which seems
pretty steep but then again I don't know any different *g*.
Thanks for any advice.
Rachel.

Sounds HT related to me- What miles are on the car, and are the HT leads
original??
If its done more than about 60k on the original leads they're way past time
for a change.

I would be inclined to suspect a faulty sensor or sensor connector have you
tried taking it to a reputable engine tuner worth the investment IMO a good
diagnostic could save money repairing stuff which aint busted

Hi Derek,
I had a diagnostic on the engine (I don't know the technical name, I have
the printoff here) which pointed to the EGR valve, which I got replaced.
However it didn't solve the problem. :(

I'd have to check the history for that, but there's 78k on the car.
Thanks for the pointer, I'll check those and let you know.

well you did the right thing if the exhaust gas recirculating valve was
sticking open it would give you an over lean mixture - just for devilment
unplug the sensors you can reach (hope you have a Haynes liars guide) clean
the spades and put em back on - costs nothing and if a sensor has a dodgy
connection it should give you some idea my old RangeRover EFi was a bugger
for doing the same due to crappy connectors in the end I replaced the
connector plugs and she was as sweet as a nut
