17" widescreen LCD
Has anyone bought a cheap (<£300) 17" widescreen LCD TV in the last
couple of weeks that they would recommend? To be used for TV viewing
and very occasional use as a computer monitor.

It's one thing searching the Net and comparing paper specs and prices,
but it's hard to find a review of any of the cheaper makes - e.g.
Mikomi from Argos. The other problem I found when trying to view the
models in the high street is that these shops typically concentrate on
the larger models and often don't connect up the smaller models. Even
when they are on, they need contrast and colour etc. adjusting. grrrrr.

I'd rather hear from someone who's actually bought one and spent time
getting the best (or not) out of it!

And why is it that virtually all 20" monitors are 4:3 and not
widescreen...?

thanks a lot,
Andrew

AFAIK

Not many GFX cards support widescreen yet.

Most cards display a destorted 4:3 image, also you won't gain the extra
space unless the card does.
