"""""""""" BNP will not fight Cumbrian seats
Published on 23/03/2005

THE right-wing British National Party has scrapped plans to field a
candidate in Carlisle at the general election, expected on May 5.

It had selected Tina Wingfield, of Silloth, to contest the seat held by
Labour's Eric Martlew.

But Mrs Wingfield's husband Martin, who edits the BNP's newspaper Voice of
Freedom, confirmed the party would not be standing in Carlisle or any other
Cumbrian constituency.

He said: "We are skint after the European elections last year. We are
concentrating on our top 105 seats, possibly the top 120. None of those is
in Cumbria." """""""""""""

Skint?

With All these people donating at all these meetings that Chris tells us
about, that can't be can it?

Afraid of losing deposit may-be.

Cheers LJ

I hope Tina stands somewhere else, it will be a great waste of talent if
not.

No, we'd easily save our deposit in Carlisle but I also doubt being "skint"
is the real reason myself, after all, we only lost one deposit in the
European elections and donations are well up on last year.

Nah, that *can't* be it - otherwise why would they bother to fight more
than a dozen seats... :)

Under PR don't forget, in an election that were seen by most as merely
an excuse to kick the gov't.

Activist.

Oh please - the derisory turnout levels tell you exactly what people
think about mid-term elections.

No, the turnout figures tell us how
1) Apathetic people are towards the Euro elections
2) people feel their single vote is irrelevant

Oh. Was that its intention ? Best tell Gerry Bagel to write you lads some
better material, providing the old prick's brain hasn't totally turned into
mush.
