A cheap basic washing machine (automatic PLEASE)
Hi all

The door has just fallen of my washing machine (for the third time) at
a cost of 50 to repair each time. It is a basic Creda model.

Can anyone direct me to a cheap reliable machine? I have only my own
washing to do so the washing machine is only used about three times a
week.

I recently bought a Beko WMB10W from Comet online. Price was 169.88 with
free delivery, although I paid extra for Sunday delivery. It's mostly B & C
rated with a 1000RPM spin speed. I can recommend this machine - it washes
well, it's quiet, doesn't vibrate and has 15 programmes including auto
half-load.

I wonder how many people actually use even half of the programme modes, and
including them is just a sales gimmick?

Very true. With my previous washer, a Hoover, I invariably used one setting
for all my washes - 'D' at 50 degrees.

On our Zanussi I use ' F - Synthetics 50 degrees' - I choose this one
because its the hottest and I figure it gives the best wash..... seems to
work OK anyway!

I use loads of the settings. extra rinse for the hairy dog blankets,
intensive for really cruddy stuff, half load, light wash for things only
worn a couple of hours, hot wash for the towels, delicate for the net
curtains and stuff.

All mine goes through on fast wash with the temp reduced to 40C.
Less than 30mins and just as clean as the long washes.
Must be the extra big drum it has.
Only problem is finding 10Kg of washing to put in.

Remember to use half the detergent they recommend as its still more than
enough.

Same here.

Similarly, I contend that it's possible to cook anything by putting it
in the oven at 200C until it goes brown! :)
