For internet/office work you only need something seriously simple. It's
worth looking at

http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/

or the same company's auction site

www.morgan-auctions.co.uk

Morgans are a long-established company and give far better customer-
service than a box shifter normally does.

Also a lot -- but not all -- of what they call refurbs are actually
brand new, but they can't sell them as such under deals with the makers.

Or for a company with an excellent reputuation, selling 2nd hand
equipment mainly, try http://www.itdealers.co.uk - excellent service,
and really cheap for what they sell. Can you do you a basic PC for well
under £100 normally.

I should have included IT Dealers. I've used them in the past and they
live up well to their superb reputation

I have found the best offers have been by local-ish companies and small
independants. They will also be able to build to your requirements.
My brand new one was only 399 from a company in Norwich called Anglian
internet.
http://www.anglianinternet.co.uk/
They were a friendly bunch of chaps who listened to what I wanted. Their
service is very good too and they always seem happy to take the time to
discuss with me any further bits and pieces I want.
I was so delighted with mine that I bought one for my adult son too.
Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Had a look at this site - seems ok - but not supplied with operating
system. Ok no problem there the older machines will probably run on
Windows 98 SE and have a legit copy of same. Here is the crunch are
the various drivers supplied on CD? Without them its a hard task to
get them running properly. Ok you can hunt around on the net - but
what a chore.

You should always check manufacturers' websites for the latest
drivers anyway - they can fix bugs or add features.

And whenever I get a new machine, I tend to go and downlad the latest
drivers as routine. You can't have it both ways - if you want the real
bargains you should be prepared to do a bit of extra effort to install
things.
