OT: Application for recording jobs, customers, stock, purchase orders
I am looking on behalf of a friend who owns a small business to find a cheap
application to manage his customers, jobs and stock. I am not sure what
term I should be using when searching for this information. Can anyone
point me in the right direction? Any recommendations? Hopefully looking in
the sub-2K mark.

Thanx.

My friend has Sage already in the company. That takes care of the
accounting side of things. But it doesn't manage jobs and stock levels.

Thanx.

Try "small business integrated management" along with "software" or
"package" or "applications"

Martin.

I could write you an app based on Excel or Access if you have those
installed.

;0)

Thanx for that. I'll tell my friend to look more closely into this. He did
mention it but at the time he said that the packages did not do what he
required. However, this was 3 years ago.

He's currently finished writing an app in MS Excel. It does the job, but
he's trying to add functionality where its going to get complex. I told him
that a custom app in MS Excel is all very well and good, but he's better off
in the long run going for an off the shelf package that caters his needs.
He had a quote for 800 from a contractor, but I said that whilst it was
okay to go for a custom solution, he would have expensive costs for besoke
afterwards. Furthermore, he would not be able to take advantage of
additional features that are packed into an off the shelf app that might
help his business.

Thanx
