Never been to that one. Sunday afternoons, eh? Might be worth a trip to the
metropolis some time....
Any more?
Well, there's Mitchell's Auction Mart at Cockermouth on Sunday mornings -
you know about that one, don't you? And there's Silloth airfield on Sundays
as well, complete with 'proper' market as well as car boot stuff, but it's
all out in the open so it depends a lot on the weather.
I know of one or two in Scotland but that's not what you're looking for, is
it?

Drop me off at the first one you come to. Imagine. We drove by Cockermouth
carboot twice without knowing it was there. That's just awful.

I'll make sure you've got a comprehensive list next time you come. Assuming
you let us know in advance that you're coming, of course....
Every Sunday there's a big sign on the roundabout for the Cockermouth sale.
Didn't you see it? A big arrow, pointing, saying "Car Boot Sale This Way" or
something of the sort.

No! Didn't see it. Too busy driving around the round about in the wrong
direction.

Now why doesn't this surprise me?
Did you get back to Tallentire by the route I suggested, by the way, or did
you take a wee detour via Carlisle, Hexham and Middlesborough?

Hey! I forgot to tell you about that. We drove straight into the village. It
was a miracle. We didn't take a single short long cut. Not at all like the
day before when we were on our way to your place and ended up in Morcalme
(?), kaa kaa kaa. But here's the good bit. We went on 3 walks this time. One
around Derwent Water, one up Tallentire hill, just a la'al hill ye said,
cussing Ally all the way up, nice view at the top and up to Airaforce,
beautiful, then there wuz the long walk 'ome from The Bush supposed to be
about 20 steps from where we parked, um.
Edith likes Chardonnay
ps. I saw dog droppings on the top of Tallentire hill. Were they yours Ally?

Aha! So if the directions you're given are precise and concise enough, and
the distance is only 3 miles or so, you can actually follow them! Hurrah!
Next time I'll try to teach you how to get to Cockermouth from here: that'll
be much more complicated. It's at least 7 miles, with several possibilities
for veering off the straight and narrow.

Oh, I'm glad you went up Tallentire Hill. It really is a nice view for such
a wee hill, isn't it? Bit steep, admittedly, but you two should be fit
enough for that, eh?

No. I don't make dog droppings. Certainly my dogs do, but it's a wee while
since we've been up there. Maybe it's time for another visit, actually.
