White Van man knows best!
Yet another incident at a Level Crossing today, at around 2:00pm. the driver
of a White Van "misused" the LC at Tram Inn (Hereford to Newport).
Signaller had to stop barrier sequence to avoid collision.

When (if ever) will these people be removed from the list of those
"privileged" to drive a vehicle. I despair at the danger these sorts put
other people in seemingly without a care for the consequences.

Perhaps the problem is that the training required to drive a vehicle is
oriented at passing the test, rather than becoming a safe driver. Better
not to let them qualify in the first place, than to disqualify them after
they've caused an accident. But removing the demonstrably incompetent
permanently from the qualified - probably a very large number - would
result in a public outcry about "persecution of the motorist," as does the
reasonable expectation to obey basic rules of the road at present.

My hopes dashed again........

With 1 in 10 drivers not having a licence, or being banned, I guess it
doesn't really matter these days. :-(

Just try and avoid being involved in their accident and hope that one
day we might get some more police back on traffic duty, not cameras
that can't detect dangerous driving or cloned/false plates, or ANPR
that is so flaky that some officers are now switching it off completely
