Re: Mac Mini's
They have a student offer at the moment.
Buy any Mac product (includes desktops, laptops, display screens etc)
and an iPod and get 100 rebate.
There's also 10 months 0% finance if the total is over 470 ish.
If you don't want an iPod, think of it as 100 the iPod,
which you could then sell on Ebay for probably what they cost in the shops.

Re: Mac Mini's
They have various fixed prices, but some shops still offer a small discount.
Their student price via nusonline.co.uk is the best I've seen.
10 sign up to a local course to get yourself an NUS card,
and save yourself on an Apple product and more, cinema, pizza hut etc.
Their 20" monitor is usually 550, it's 472 from the NUS store.
The latest 60Gb iPod is 299, 275 via NUS.

There is nowhere on the site that requires you put in an NUS number.
I recently bought an iPod for my daughter and all I had to enter was the
educational department I worked at / studied at / walked past / knew
about!!! ;o)

Re: Mac Mini's
As I've mentioned in the past, there are two levels of educational discount.
In store and the basic link from Apple.com/uk is generally 6%
If you visit via nusonline.co.uk you usually get a higher % discount.
e.g. 20" monitor
/uk/store/ 549
education link 505.25
nusonline link 472

Thanks for the links. I presumed they would just end up giving the same
discount. But obviously not.

If they did they would be prosecuted for breaking the law.
They may have very tight profit margins on their goods, which ends up been
the same thing.............

I found switching to a mac to be unrewarding, it seemed to take twice as
long to do something, spending your life jumping through hoops, ultimately a
frustrating experience.
I can see that Mac OS X is a fantastic operating system, and maybe if i give
it more time, it would be more rewarding.
Ended up selling the Mac, back to XP. I love it.

WTF were you doing? If you were trying to operate OSX like you would
WinXP then I can sort of see your problem.
If you forget everything you've learned using PCs over the years and let
intuition take over, OSX does everything WinXP does, and more, in less
time.

I went to work for a company that was mac based and initially thought the
same,
but once you get used to them they're fantastic.
Only reason I haven't switched is the software I've already purchased over
the years.
As they're more compatible these days if I ever get a laptop it'll be an
Apple.

It's illegal to have a fixed price. But isn't it funny how many
poroducts just happen to be available at a single price wherever you go
