Mr Wallop has probably had one of his bills paid and gone on holiday
to Bermuda for six months.

He is a sensitive soul. Someone said some harsh words in reply to his last
posting which he must have taken badly.

Typical of a Usenet group. The most productive ones collect all the
shit. Then people wonder why the group dies.

Just a heart felt note to Wallop.I hope some ungrateful bugger being rude
hasn't put you off helping the rest of us.
I did post a general thank you a while ago to the brilliant individuals who
answer so many queries from so many people
but Wallop is one of those handful of people who has a lot of experience
that he gladly shares with the rest of us.
I hope to see him back soon..............dammit I need him...Im halfway
through doing up the house !!!!!!!

Methinks Big Wallop's skin is a great deal thicker than that - he's either
on hol's or just gone galavantin' to the next job.

Yep that person was Barney (subject: Drains). I did say in that thread that
rude Barney may cause our daily input from The Wallop to cease. The Wallop
finished his reply with "Bye"

I make no apology for repeating here what I wrote after Barney (Barmey) made
his rude tirade:
"Now that is what I call gentlemanly behaviour (I don't think). Ask for
advice and then abuse those that give it. BW has given excellent advice at
no cost to many people on this group and I for one have learnt much and
greatly value his knowledge. I suggest you crawl back under the stone from
whence you came."

When I saw the thread I thought Big Wallop was the one who was rude, and
that he deserved the reply he got.

I have just read through the thread again and the only thing BW said that
might have been misconstrued was that the words roughly and bodge should
never be used where drains are concerned. This was after the OP had asked
whether an "approximate" fit would do. BW then went on to give clear
instructions on what was needed after which the OP responded with his quite
unnecessary and OTT tirade.

I was following this, and a previous one linked to it, because I'm doing
something similar. If you look at the previous thread, 'Outside WC', you
will see that this is where the disagreement began, and I think BW was
definitely out of order. A straightforward question was asked, and the
response seemed to me both unnecessarily patronising and condescending.

Re: Where's Big Wallop?
I just read the thread you referred to and it is clear from that that the
misunderstanding was amicably resolved. Therefore Barney was out of order in
his subsequent lambasting of Big Wallop.

I have now also read the Outside WC thread and agree that it finishes
perfectly amicably. I fall back on my original comments to Barmy.

I disagree, it finishes with Barney accepting BW's apology, but there's
clearly a little bit of niggle there. I 'fall back' on my original comments
that BW deserved the reply he got.

Sorry for intruding, I read but don't post. There's a BigWallop on
blueyonder.discussion.general still posting if you would like to ask him
personally why he's not around, assuming it's the same one of course and
assuming that any of you are a Blueyonder customer.
