No, they continued until the end of their route, or until they would
have been relieved by another driver, and then drove back to the depot.

Did they fuck!
My kids were on the number 27 boarded at 13.26 heading for Tollcross and
got kicked off at Firhill.
No phone no wherewithall to contact anyone and had to walk home leaving
parents and graparents in a state of extreme alarm.
I wouldn't pay them in rusty washers, I hope the insensitive prick that
forced an 11 year old and 14 year old off the bus gets fuck all then sacked.
DILLIGAFF if I get flamed on this, I have only just started.

Probably the driver was due to be replaced at the end of his shift
with another who didn't turn up.

Fuck em, I say. Lets do without buses for a week or two and then watch them
come crawling back cos they're skint.

In that case - keep the tickets (as they will show the time of boarding
and route number which will identify the driver involved) and contact
CAB for advice. I'm not certain, but I think that the driver has a
"Duty of care" which would include responsibility for children placed
onto the bus and he has been willfully negligent in that care.
Photocopy the tickets and write to LRT as well - first step towards
getting him sacked.
I'd be equally flaming if it had happened to my kids.

Must have happened more than once as my wife's aunt(who has special needs)
was kicked off her bus somewhere at the East end. She works at the 'St Judes
Laundry' and has got the same bus there and back for years. When she was
kicked off the bus she had some sort of panic attack due to the unfamiliar
surroundings but luckily she had a mobile. One quick call and she was soon
picked up. Could have been a lot different though!

Hi Clair,
I have the ticket in front of me. I am pretty mild mannered normally but
when my kids get caught up in this sort of thing I go for the jugular as it
is not acceptable.
Luckily my wife's work colleague can verifiy the kicking off bit at Firhill
as she was trying to get her kids on the bus there.
I have asked LB to contact me tomorrow as a matter of urgency. I hadn't
thought about the CAB I was more thinking of a lawyer I would sue them for
the 1.20 as a point of principle.
My kids are luckily fit and well but perhaps not as streetwise as they could
be but walked back to Fairemilehead on a nice day.
What about disabled/elderly/unwell people on their way to a long awaited
appointment in the NHS.
As far as Richards comments are concerned it may be the case for him but the
incident surrounding my kids is ascertainable and I will go for them.

Up until now I would disagree with you strongly , but start lobbing people
of a bus with no notice or way back home. Then my support has gone and I
hope they lose their jobs.

I'm glad it worked out OK for your wifes aunt she has my sympathy and best
wishes.
As I have stated in another post Richard seems to have been lucky or not

While I agree it was a pretty shitey thing to do, I think you're being
a wee bit presumptious.
You're assuming that all those on strike:
- Were involved with the drivers who were kicking off passengers.
- Agreed with those actions.
It's quite possible that these bastards might just be plants, trying to
undermine public support; bear that in mind.
- How many drivers, out of all the LRT buses in Edinburgh,
unceremoniously kicked passengers off their buses?
- How many even knew about it?

I fail to see what I am presuming the facts surrounding my children are
ascertainable. I dont give a monkeys how many, they are all implicated in
this. I noted that the majority couldn't be bothered to get of their
backsides to go to ther union meeting.
As far as the plant theory goes, I have the ticket they can tell me who he
is and he can either come and give me his explanation, if not I want him
sacked plain and simple.
Let me be clear, if you endanger or damage my 11 year old girl trying to
get confidence in life, with action a self centered action like that I will
go for you big time.

You've been reading too many of Hansen's posts: It's the evil goverment
conspiracy to undermine the bus drivers!

It was a wildcat strike: how could Lothian Black Helicopters and Busses
Inc. have planted people in a wildcat strike? Unless they speculativley
planted people in case there was a wildcat strike... which sounds far
more organised and prescient than anything the council has been
involved in in my experience. And surely if there was ever proof of
such a strategy, then LB could be sued to pieces, not to mention bad
publicity. Sounds like the game wouldn't be worth the candle.

Of course, the best way to agitate is to simply to encourage the wrong
people who think they're right, and retreat to a safe distance - like
handing a pyromaniac matches to start the bonfire; a van der Lubbe for
their Reichstag. But I concede, this is Edinburgh Council we're talking
about.

When your kids were chucked off the bus, why were they not able to
phone you? Do they - unlike every other child in the country - not
have a mobile? Even if they don't, was no-one else around able to ring
on their behalf?

Like a stranger perhaps. An 11 y/o goes up to a stranger and says
"I'm stranded, will you phone home for me?"

Are you going to ask his child to walk up to complete strangers in the
street and volunteer the information that they are stranded and unable
to contact their parents?

At least it looks like the action will soon come to an end with the calling
off of next weeks industrial action. A few hours of some buses off the road
is better than an indefinite strike.
