Any slam door trains on SWT?
Are there any slam door trains left on the SWT network?

I went on "holiday" for a couple of weeks in April and I haven't seen let
alone travelled on a slam door train yet. I have however managed to see a
*few* (and I mean very few) yellow livery ones running the other side of
Clapham Junction.

What happened to the special old style BR livery "Gordon Pettitt" (sic?) or
whatever it was called? Did SWT paint it up only to have it scrapped?

Slam doors on SWT are RIP.

Southern and SET still have a few running, though I believe only at
peak times.

P.S. You went on "holiday" as opposed to holiday - does this mean it
was at Her Majesty's expense?

Still plenty of slam-door trains in SET land. Last one to pass my house
was a mere 30 minutes ago.

Only on the Lymington branch.

The ones you saw at Clapham Junction were Southern ones, which will
still be running for another couple of weeks.

I think they still have it, but are not using it at the moment.

Didn't I read somewhere that SWT took the shoes off slammers as soon as they
took them out of use, so that no one would be tempted to put them back into
service?

Units seem to get show removal these days as soon as they go off lease.

Maybe an insurance thing, not to have them live after transfer of
responsibility while still on someone elses (i.e. not the leasco)
property ?

SN units are currently (excuse the pun) moved to Newhaven Harbour for a
short term store then to Stewarts Lane for shoegear removal before
being taken away.
