Where are these severe weather conditions?
From http://www.midlandmainline.com/criticalEventPopUp.asp
Call centre information
Due to severe weather conditions and the subsequent evacuation of our main
call centre, we are currently experiencing difficulties in handling the
usual level of calls. Wherever possible, please book tickets online or visit
your nearest station. We are currently doing everything we can to resolve
the problems, but anticipate that this situation will continue for at least
a week.
Thank you in anticipation for your patience.

No idea where MML have located, but
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4737601.stm could be a
possibility?

Sounds quite likely. Last time I had a problem with an MML booking I
ended up speaking to someone in India.

Not Birmingham, then? It'd make sense, seeing as National Express
Group is, as I recall, a Birmingham-based operation.

TV pictures showed terraced houses. Were there any industrial
casualties?

Not that I know of. Moseley / Balsall Heath / Sparkbrook is a mixed
residential area including the famous Birmingham Balti houses of
Ladypool Road and Stoney Lane. Ladypool Road I believe was badly hit.
I've been using Saleem's on Ladypool Road on and off for 30 years, so
I hope it's all right - I'll have a look next time I'm in the area.
Best regards, Paul

Try booking through GNER's call centre, which I'm fairly certain is in
Newcastle.
