Freight traffic in Cornwall.
Hi everyone,
Does anyknow how much in the way of Freight exists in Cirnwall thee
days? Are there still to be had decent China Clay workings around
Fowey. I imagine they are the ghastly GM things nowadays but it'll keep
my son entertained.

I'm also taking the family to Dobwalls too. Looking forward to that, I
last went when I was my sons age and i'm 34.

Cheers,

Rob.

Freightmaster supply useful timetables in their excellent books,
published four times a year, or you can subscribe online at:

http://freightmaster.net/

For your holiday purposes, the book might be better value. But if you
want to watch or photograph freight trains year-round, anywhere in
Britain, the subscription service is constantly kept up to date.

No: Dobwalls is in South East Cornwall, near Liskeard. The Big Sheep
<http://www.thebigsheep.co.uk> is in North Devon (at Abbotsham, near
Bideford).

The route of the Bideford, Westward Ho! and Appledore Railway passes
close to the Big Sheep: however, there isn't any freight traffic
(unless you count lorries).

No mate, she's here

You can climb up into the head and look outside if you want but I'm
told it's a bit on the nose in summer.

Goulburn used to be a big railway town on the main line from Melbourne
to Sydney, but the big roundhouse has gone for ever.

And stay away from the rear end. Goulburn is terrible with flies and they
haven't worked out how to crutch a sheep that big.....

Yes, it was marvellous. For pictures I took of Goulburn in 1969 and a more
recent comparison, go to this URL:
