[slightly OT] Perpignan-Figueres HSL
I was on holiday last week and travelling (by car) from Le Boulou to the
coast. Rather surprised to see apparent works for the high speed line from
Perpignan to Figueres, presumably involving a hefty tunnel. I didn't realise
the route had been fixed. Was I dreaming or is work in progress? And if so,
what is happening about Nimes-Perpignan and Figueres to Barcelona?

I can see it makes sense to do the cross-border bit first for maximum
benefit.

Regards

Jonathan

I don't know the answers; you may find them in
misc.transport.rail.europe.

Indeed this has been covered extensively in recent threads there.

I have got more news about that.

In Perpignan, works to remodel the station and the RFF segment until le
Soler (where the concession of TP Ferro starts) have just begun.

Tunnelling has just begun on the French side, some weeks later than on
the Spanish side.

Trackbed works are now quite visible on la Jonquera-Figueres from the
A7-E80-E15.

South of Figueres, works are going well on Riudellots-Llinars del
Valles, but they haven't begun yet on other portions. From the rear
coach of Arco 1101 (Portbou-Valencia) on last Monday, I could spot
quite some progress, on Sils-Llinars, compared to my latest journey
there (21/02). I made some pics from there, and these should be on RFE
very soon.

Best regards

Phil
