Two-Faced

In all my correspondence from Anglican Bishops, I have received letters
expressing disquiet over Masonic influence in church affairs from only
two bishops and one dean. One of the bishops was Dr. Rowan Williams,
writing in 2002 just prior to his installatiion as Archbishop of
Canterbury. He wrote that he had misgivings about the compatibility
between "masonry and Christian profession".
I thought it might be interesting to hear what the Archbishop of York,
Dr. David Hope lately retired, had to say, in the light of the
installation last November of an Anglican Canon as Scotland's Grand
Master. My letter was courteously framed, and posed this central
question thus :"WHERE DO YOU STAND ON MASONIC CLERGY?" Dr. Hope's
waspish reply, attached, ignoring the question altogether, came as no
surprise. It provides an excellent example of the Christian Church's
silence in the face of institutional evil. The wider Anglican communion
needs to take note. I ask everyone receiving this e-mail to read Dr.
Hope's letter in the attachment. What hope for a church which is so
weak-kneed and two-faced?
