New powers to tackle boy racers
Cars belonging to boy racers can be seized by police under new powers.
Deputy Justice Minister Hugh Henry said the move would be welcomed by
police and local neighbourhoods terrorised by the youngsters with motor
vehicles.
Police now have the power to seize vehicles if they are driven
carelessly or inconsiderately - or if they cause alarm, danger or
annoyance.
The powers, part of last year's Antisocial Behaviour Act, take effect
from Thursday.
