Moorgate report now online
The report into the Moorgate tube overrun is now available at
http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/docSummary.php?docID=98 . Thanks are
once again due to Wobbly Bob, who has had to go and lie down for a
while, as his scanner has overheated.
Accident report fans should note that the report into the Armagh
tragedy of 1889 is on my desk awaiting scanning this weekend.

A fascinating report - many thanks to you and Wobbly Bob!
It got slightly confusing when a "Motorman R. C. Deadman" (a road
training instructor) was introduced, as there were several references
in the report to the train's deadman's device, e.g. "Unlike Rozario,
he said that he sometimes but not always centralised the controller
once the train had built up speed because it was easier to hold down
the deadman in that position."

I was interested that someone from the railway was (presumably)
considered the best person to examine the position the driver ended
up in and how this related to the controls. That seems entirely
sensible to me, but I suspect such a sensible approach would not be
taken today.
