Meteor Films
Anyboby out there have any information on Meteor Film Services of Worcester
Park, Surrey, who put out many of the films of G.S. Holyoake in Standard 8
mm and Super 8 format in the '60s and '70s? Memories would be great; a copy
of a catalogue even better!

Google has yielded nothing about the films, although plenty about video
issues of Holyoake's footage.

I can't tell you much. Some of the films were also issued in colour
and on 16mm. I've never seen any on 9.5mm, though I can't say that
they weren't released in this format. The 8mm ones seem to be by far
the most common.

When LGP cine and Perrys movies shared a shop in Rayners Lane until a
few years ago they were still printing the black and white standard 8
ones; this must have been years after anyone else stopped printing in
this format. The films were printed in 1-4 format, i.e. like standard
8 camera stock, with the perforations down the outer edges, and the two
rows of pictures running in opposite directions. I think they were
actually perforating the print stock themselves; they certainly had
perforators for standard 8, Super-8, 9.5mm and 16mm, mainly used for
producing leader. Larry still attends the BFFC conventions at Ealing
town Hall in london. He may still have some stock of these films
available, he did a couple of years or so ago.

I don't know what happened to the printing negatives, nor who now owns
the distribution rights to these films.

Thanks for that. I'll have a chat with Larry and Ian and see what they
remember.

Since there is nothing available, I though I'd see if there was enough info
about to do a simple web page.
