Cask Marque Complaints
Any one know how to contact Cask Marque regarding quality of beer in a pub
that has a Marque?
I figured that a particular establishment I visited is probably not worthy
after both beers tasted like crap and the bar staff hadn't a clue...
Cheers
Rob
PS anyone know the Hog's Head chain website and/or e-mail?

You can try sending mail to the address in the headers but it
might not get read for a while, if at all.

To be honest if you want porn, cheap mortgages from another country, and
stuff utterly unrelated to the subject in which you are interested, I
couldn't recommend Google higher :o)

Eh?
Type in "cask marque" and the Cask Marque website is your first result.
(Hogshead don't appear to have a website, though)
Your web browser hasn't been hijacked by a virus that gives you dodgy Google
results, has it?

Are you on something?
Google is a search engine. You puts things in it and it finds them.
Suggest you go and lie down.

Completely OT, but type in something like "firefox.exe" (the excellent free
web browser) or "adaware.exe" (the excellent adware remover) and you get a
raft of "sponsored links" offering to remove this "spyware". Sadly it's only
too easy for those in the know to subvert Google.
(Yes I have pointed this out to them.)
BTW There does appear to be a site www.hogshead.co.uk, but at the moment it
seems to be down.

It adds a cookie to your machine, it reads the cookie at other times, your
cumulative link visits via google are recorded, you are classified for
targeted advertising...

Many thanks for your variety of replies.
I found the Cask Marque site easily (just there was no decent contact info
regarding complaints), it was only the Hog's Head I had problems with as
their website seemed not to work.
Managed in the end and Cask Marque are now investigating the incident...

If you're too stupid to learn how to turn off cookies, how is that
anybody's problem but your own ?

One of my 'tricks' to avoid cookies (of any type from any site) in my
OS/2 days was to delete the cookies.txt file and create a folder of the
same name :-)

Pardon?
If you know how to look at the headers of postings then check the OS I'm
using. For most of the browsers on this setup turning cookies ON is an
option since they're off by default.
Some sites refuse to allow you access unless you turn on cookies - but you
probably knew that and chose to forget.
Any way returning to the subject:
Should anyone wish to speak directly to members of Cask Marque (Paul Nunny
specifically) then they might be well advised to visit the Great British
Beer Festival and visit the stand at the right hand side of the bar area in
the Grand Hall.
Cask Marque have paid their pitch fee and will be there.

It is more the case of what the average user needs to do, not the computer
savvy tech-heads.

Re: Cask Marque Complaints
Wouldn't hold out much hope ... I made a complaint last year - got the "we
are investigating" holding message and then nothing.
Must mention it to Paul Nunney if I see him at GBBF.

Paul will be there but the stand has about 8 staff for the week - I'm sure
they'd be happy to take your query up!

a while back I contacted CM & received a quick and decent reply.
it was about a rumour about their relationship with Wetherspoon's and
CAMRA, rather than a complaint about beer quality in a particular pub;
I agree that comments/complaints about individual pubs should be
investigated pretty quickly, if the scheme is going to have real worth
to the drinker or landlord.
I read an article somewhere that explained how their procedures for
'failing' pubs worked, but I can't remember what it was. Anyone know?
It would be good to compare if failing pubs (that drinkers have
complained to CM about) have improved or lost their accreditation.
cheers,
MikeMcG.

I thought the most regular reason for losing accreditation was failing to
pay the fee.

Probably true, and while that might say something about the perceived
value of the scheme by landlords or drinkers, it's not the group of
pubs I'm interested in here.
CM charging for their services doesn't bother me (I don't know if they
charge reasonably tho?) but its expensive to send out examiners, and I
reckon their professional experience might be worth paying for; if the
examinations are regular and strenuous, and if failing pubs are advised
of their problems, then reassessed soon after & kicked out if they
don't improve.
