Lamping foxes
Had my first look around the other evening with the lamp since the
foresters got the weeds cut.
Picked up eyes where I thought there might be some activity. Very unfox-
like and I assumed it was a cub. Sure enough, he dithered around and was
not interested in a squeak but thought he might come out of curiosity to
have a closer look at the Land Rover.
Then I lost him. Finally, found him in the next field about 50 yards away
hunting for mice, totally unconcerned. Found him by seeing him, not by his
eyes. Made a cock up of raising the rifle, banged the door, then shot him
up the rear end as he decided it might be time to potter off without any
sign of hurry at all. One very stupid young fox.
