Mounds of stones?
Can someone tell me what those mounds of stones that people build on
mountains are called, please.

Quick please. I'm in the middle of a poem.

Errrrrrrrrm errrrrrrrrrrrrrm, oh alright then, seeing as your a nice
fellow:-

From an asphalt road to a dusty pound
From a traffic flow to abandoned gound
From a tangled city like a spider's web
He'd get away, "No more," he said.

From the smog of a city to a country road
From an asphalt jungle to a mossy grove
From a buisy city to a pebbled mound
To the rivers and mountains said he, "I'm bound."

Edith

Forgot the cairn bit.

Lovely idea, Kezzi!

My cats are all buried in a wee feline graveyard at the bottom of our veg
garden. There's a big cotoneaster bush in the middle, which Steve is cutting
into the shape of a cat's head, and I bought a baby yew tree (common in
graveyards) when the first one died. Our neighbours also gave us a young
rowan tree. It's a nice final resting place. I guess one day the dogs'll end
up down there too.

We found some dog bones when we were deep digging the veg plot a few years
ago. Previous owners' beloved pooch, no doubt.

We always build a cairn to stop the remains being dug up. There are 8 of our
sheepdogs on the Lakeland fells: Kim, Charlie, Jess, She, Lady, Sheenah,
Tess and Jack. Just Tag left now and he's at the age where we now need to
look for a decent pup to start breaking in.

I buried my last of 7 cats in a neighbours allotment. It had been run over
outside and was a bit of a mess and needed a quick disposal before the kids
saw it, and he said I could put it in the far corner. I was talking to him
recently and he said that a rhubarb had sprouted from there, and the best
rhubarb he's ever seen. It must be almost 5' tall and tastes delicious. The
rhubarb either side is puny by comparison. So - forget the hoss muck. Get
yersel' a few dead moggies. There are a few round here that I can start you
off with. As they can't get shut of the parrots they're next to useless so
next time the dog slips out I'll turn a blind eye.... How many would you
like?

My Dad's false teeth are burried under the Christmas tree at the old house.
My son has built a dance floor/stage over them. My dad wouldn't mind.

I'd like some nice young kittens to replace my late lamented Charlotte,
Rover & BB, if you know of any.

When my Edinburgh cats died I'd usually plant something on top, and it
usually grew well. I even let a friend bury her cat in my back green, as she
didn't have a garden, and she planted lavender on top. I also had an
enormous laburnum tree which I planted over a dead pigeon. Biggest
healthiest laburnum I've ever seen. No wonder our veg plot is so fertile, if
the previous residents buried their dogs there.
