TV alert - Railway Lives ITV1 Midlands
Programme 2 of 8 tonight 1800-1825 on ITV1 Midlands, in which according
to RT, 'A group of enthusiasts from Staffordshire travel to Poland,
where they drive a commuter steam train'. This is presumably about
Wolzstyn.

I watched last week's about Lincolnshire (Ross - any comment?),
presented by Tony Francis in his usual style. Nevertheless quite
interesting though I thought the research could have been better - i.e.
they could have used my slide of hay being unloaded from a box van at
Woodhall Jn in 1970 :-) More seriously I got a little tired of sepia
tinted current video from the SVR and the Bluebell being used to
represent Lincs in steam days, (though to be fair they never actually
claimed it was). Some archive film from the area would have been much,
much better.

This is a series of 8 programmes seemingly confined to ITV1 in the
Midlands at this stage, though I note ITV1 Yorks is showing something
about 'Flying Scotsman' at the same time.

If you've got Sky, you can tune in to ITV Midlands (or ITV from any other
region) wherever you are in the country. For details:

Sounds like a good programme to watch. I have been to Wolsztyn and
driven and fired one of the steam locos.

Bloody hard work - started my 'turn' at 04.00 in temperatures of minus
12 outside. Was told initially by the PKP driver where to stop until he
was confident with me on the brake - stations were seemingly in the
middle of nowhere sometimes. The 'reward' was when around 300
passengers walked past the loco cab at Poznan - bit worring that they
lives had been my responsibility. But well worth the cost for the
sheer experience.

Can recommend it thoroughly.

Didn't watch it; it's very rare that I tune my TV away from music
channels nowadays.

Bet it didn't feature dogboxes staggering around left, right & centre!

Apologies.
