Moving Electric Meter.
I am moving my Electric meter from its current position on the outside
gable end of my wall to the inside next to my Consumer Unit.
Currently the consumer unit is inside opposite where my electric meter
is (Fitted in Recessed box on wall).
I have the 32mm black conduit and hockey stick. Is it acceptable the
the Electric board for be to fit the Hockey stick on the outside of the
wall and then just above where it ends drill a hole through the wall.
(this will take me in just above my foundations about 12inches below
floorboards and from there it can go up to where my meter new location is.
I want to be able to put the electrical cable directly through the wall
with out it going in ducting whilst it is going through the wall.
I am building an extension on the side of the house so the hockey stick
won't be visible once completed.
Being a weekend, I can't contact the Electrical boards team leader in
this area........
TIA

Do you have enough of the original supply cable to take you through the wall
to the new position? If you don't, then you'll need proper jointing
material to extend the cables. You will also need to protect the cable as
it goes through the wall. I've seen many unprotected cables being attacked
by the salts and minerals in the stone and mortar, so the cable really needs
protected by a rigid external pipe of some kind.
Never leave any sharp edges that may cause damage to the cables outer
insulation.

Re: Moving Electric Meter.
Only the supply company is allowed to reposition the meter.

The purpose of the hockey stick is to allow the suppliers to easily lay a
cable into a recessed cavity box. On a surface mounted box the cable is
usually surface mounted and then protected with sheathing. For an overhead
supply (or one that runs high up along the back of terraced houses) then the
cable usually just goes straight through the wall.
Most suppliers will not make a joint inside your property so if they know
about your extension then they will not extend the cable where the meter
currently is.You may have to have the joint made outside the extension.
When you say the hockey stick will not be visible once the extension is
completed are you suggesting that you are going to plaster over an incoming
supply so that future owners may drill into it?

This will all be under floor level. I have dug out a trench for the
Electric board to make a new joint outside in my drive. and they will
then run a new cable from this joint to my new meter position. This way if there is ever a problem with the joint , it will be in my drive and
not under my Extension
My electric company require me to do all the excavation and fitting of
the conduit to the new meter position.
I was just wondering if it is acceptable to feed the cable through the
wall without it being in conduit. The rest of the cable will be in Conduit.
The hockey stick won't be visible after the Extension is built because
it will be under the floor of the extension. The only time the cable
comes above floor level is in my cupboard where it connects to the meter.--

Sorry, I should have said I am preparing to have my meter moved, I must
carry out all the ducting and drilling and they come and move the meter
when I am ready.

I have to carry out all the prep work, and they do the actual moving of
the supply.

I see no reason why not. I drilled a hole through a wall a few weeks ago for
the supplier to move a PME meter and they just passed the cable through the
wall.
