Moth Identification?
I know this isn't really the right place to post, but could someone help
with identifying a moth, or point me in the right direction to a website or
NG that may be able to help.
The moth in question has about 2.5" wingspan, very pale white-green colour.
The tail has two points and there are twin stripes on the wing. I have a
photo which I could email if this would help.
Thanks,
PJ.

Re: Moth Identification?
Try sci.bio.entomology.lepidoptera
Or, since yo're in the UK, free.uk.nature.lepidoptery
Having said that, what you have sounds like a Large Emerald moth to me.

Re: Moth Identification?
Thanks for the info. I've had a quick look for the Large Emerald moth on
Google, but it's not the one. The moth we had in the bedroom of all places
has a single wing and not double (if that's the right way of explaining).
It's really frustrating. It was a beautiful moth and it's really hard to
find anything or anyone who can ID it!
John, would a picture help you identify it further? If so, drop me an email
at phillworboys@GLASSESlycos.co.uk, remembering to remove glasses before
sending.
Cheers,
PJ.

Moths are absolutely wonderful: better than butterflies, I reckon. If
you're interested, the Collins Gem Guide to Butterflies and Moths is
a great fiver's worth. I made a moth trap out of a banana box, and
the children and I had regular fun for years.

Re: Moth Identification?
I've found it! It's a swallow tailed moth. It only took me about an hour
of searching on Google to find out what it was.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Moth Identification?
I know you've already found your moth, but this page is a good
