Transit gearbox removal
The Haynes manual says that on bodies with independent front suspension the
front axle beam must be lowered by 100mm. Is this really necessary for a
2.5D and a MT75 gearbox? Sounds a real fag if I have to.

I have never read the book, but I have changed the box with no problems,
just do it.

It's out. I came out fairly easily. I really don't know why Haynes said
that but I did remove the gear lever turret just to make sure. In fact the
crossmember is a convenient resting place where it is.

Have you got the right manual?
On the older transits, you don't need to touch anything on the front
axle/suspension.

You have however got to drop the front subframe on the Transit 2000 RWD
models.

Obviously the muppet that wrote the manual forgot to remove the bottom bit
of the gear lever.

The transit box is a piece of cake to drop out.

Yes Ford Transit Diesel - 1986 to 1995. This was a 1994 Transit.
