There is a bar underneath the Rover 218 VVC coupe model that links the
botton of the gear stick to the gearbox.

Ours has worn massively at the universal joint which connects to the
gearbox.  I've beeb told a new bar is needed but Rover say they do not
stock them with it being the Coupe model.

I've tried loads of scrappies but no luck either.

First, does anyone know if it will be the same part as a regular 218
(R-reg).

Second, anyone know of any source on the net which might have it.

If I cannot get one then it will have to be taken off and hawked
around a few metalwork yards until someone offers to try to make a
replacement.
