Whitehaven Maritime Festival
Anyone off to Whitehaven tomorrow? Where's Sean these days? I'm surprised
he's not been telling us all about it. Then again, he's maybe in the midst
of the organisation of it.
Belfagan will be there of course. At the last one, 2 years ago, we all
melted into little puddles on the quayside, as it was probably the hottest
day of the year. Looking at the greyness and drizzle outside tonight, I'm
afraid tomorrow's weather will be quite different... Dunno which is worse,
dancing under the beating sun, surrounded by enormous crowds all day and
ending up with a splitting migraine, or dancing in the rain with soggy
clothes and dripping hair and all the punters hiding in the pubs and cafes.
Oh well, nothing like a bit of variety in life.
Give us a wave if you see us, won't you!
ally
PS - Edith - got any sun-dances left in you? Pretty please?

Ooh, thank you. I see you've arranged it so that it rains all night, leaving
the sky clear and bright for tomorrow. I await the morning with bated
breath.

Edith, O Great Sun Goddess, you have excelled yourself today! What sunshine!
What blue skies! What huge crowds of happy, sweaty people on the quayside!
Steve and I have decided to start a new religion, with Edith The Sun Goddess
as its central deity. All potential disciples please sign up here.

I heard some of you lot on the radio ('Belfagan', that is) - CFM,
Saturday morning. Listened out for yourself, but all I heard was the
accordionist describing his skills.... Did I miss you? - Were you
on air?
Would liked to have come over, but couldn't get out of shopping, and
other things call (Children's social life - parties and all that) this
sunday.

You may have heard me playing sax or recorder in the background. The
interviewer came over and chatted to Jan, our secretary, and the band played
on, in the background. Then he started chatting to Stuart, the accordion
player, and Bridget (the other accordion player) and I just kept on playing.
The interviewer had obviously had had enough by that time - one dancer and
one musician was enough and he moved onwards through the crowd. I was hoping
to get in a quick plug for Marshall McGurk but it was not to be!
