travel from Leeds/Manchester.
Any advice on the cheapest travel & also some budget but OK accommodation
there?

Is there such a thing as a decent cheap hotel, within walking distance of
the major attractions in New York? By cheap I mean < 50 per night for the
room in Jan/Feb 2006 - staying over the weekend.
