Excess fare question

If I have a return ticket to Bridge of Orchy from Edinburgh, and on the
way back I end up at Dalmally and want to get a train back from there,
can I excess my ticket?
In other words, if I have an unused RTN Bridge of Orchy ...

What is up with it? I have been on around 10 class 158s operated by
Wessex, Trenau Arriva Cymru and Northern over the past week, and every
one has had faulty air-Con, though it seems to be working on the SWt
158 and 159s. Whats up with it?

conditioning on trains failing to cope with the hot weather.
